Our Pastoral Leadership

At LifeSource, we function within the context of Pastoral Plurality. We believe that a plurality of pastors provides a structure for wise counsel. Solomon said, "In the multitude of counselors there is safety" (Prov. 11:14).  The structure of pastoral plurality creates a built-in accountability for the pastors to make sure that they are not straying from the vision, beliefs, and mission of the church.

Within the pastoral plurality, every decision we make occurs among spiritually mature and trusted brothers by consensus.  A plurality of pastors, who share leadership responsibilities in a spirit of humility, will also share the burdens of the ministry and be less likely to burn out. A plurality of pastors utilizes the different spiritual gifts of each pastor. No single leader has all the spiritual gifts needed within himself. For that reason, dependence on other leaders is essential to healthy leadership.

Some of the guiding principles for the function of the pastoral plurality are…
  • At LifeSource, the pastors serving on the pastoral team are called Leadership Pastors.
  • The pastoral team operates on the principle of equality. Each pastor on the pastoral team is viewed as one operating with pastoral authority.
  • Decisions within the pastoral team are made by consensus. The lead pastor can exercise the final authority within the pastoral team if needed.
All policies, plans, and vision determined within the pastoral team are shared with the Leadership Team for confirmation and accountability.
